Torres del Paine W Trek accommodation: map and where to stay each night
There are 12 places to stay within 2 km of the 72-km Torres del Paine W Trek, 4 of them campsites. This guide orders them stage by stage, with how far each one sits from the trail, contact details and reviews.
First decision
When to book
Every night has to be booked before you arrive, and rangers check.
CONAF requires a confirmed booking for each night on the W and checks at the park entrances and on the trails. Without one you can only visit for the day, and anyone found sleeping in the park without a booking can be sent out of it.
Two companies run the refugios and campsites on the trail, and each sells only its own. Las Torres Patagonia, formerly Fantástico Sur, runs Central, Chileno, Francés and Cuernos at lastorres.com. Vértice runs Paine Grande and Grey at vertice.travel. Walking the whole W means booking with both and making the dates line up.
The park entry pass is separate: buy it at pasesparques.cl at least 24 hours ahead and carry it printed or as a screenshot, as there is no internet at the gate. The camps are open from mid September to late April, and December to February books up months ahead, Grey sooner than Paine Grande.
Prices and season dates checked October 2026. Confirm with the operator before booking.
the base of the towers (stage 1, 1 place), Francés (stage 2, 1 place), Paine Grande (stage 3, 1 place), Grey Glacier (stage 4, 2 places) have the fewest beds on this route, so book those first and fit the rest of the walk around them.
The gap that shapes the trip
The longest stretch without a bed
21 km, between the base of the towers and Francés. Nothing in that stretch is within 2 km of the path, so it is the section that decides how you split the walk.
Night by night
Where to stay at each stop
Stops follow Traileasy's 5-Day Itinerary, which splits the walk into 5 days. Most walkers take 4 to 5, and the overnight towns change with the split.

Only one place here, and the next bed is 21 km further on. Book this one first, or plan to stop short of it.
Night 2 · from the base of the towers· 16 km
Francés
Only one place here, and the next bed is 20 km further on. Book this one first, or plan to stop short of it.
Night 3 · from French Valley· 18.6 km
Paine Grande
Only one place here, and the next bed is 10.3 km further on. Book this one first, or plan to stop short of it.
Night 4 · from Paine Grande· 10.7 km
Grey Glacier
Only 2 places here, and the next bed is 12.5 km further on. Book this one first, or plan to stop short of it.
Local rules
Camping on the Torres del Paine W Trek
2 of the 4 overnight stops have a campsite within 2 km of the path: Francés and Grey Glacier.
Wild camping is forbidden everywhere in the park, and so are fires. You sleep at one of the operator camps, and a gas stove is allowed only in the marked cooking areas: the covered shelters at the Vértice camps and the stove areas at Central and Francés. Stoves are banned at Chileno.
Every campsite on the W takes your own tent, and that is the cheap way to walk the W: about USD 11 to 13 a person a night at Paine Grande and Grey, against USD 50 a person for two sharing at the Las Torres camps. Both companies also rent a tent that is already pitched when you arrive, with a sleeping bag and mat, so you can camp without carrying any of it.
The free CONAF camps on the W, Italiano and Torres, were closed last season and no reopening has been announced. Chileno, which is camping only this season, is now the closest place to sleep for a sunrise at the base of the towers.
Carrying less
Baggage transfer
There is no luggage transfer between the camps, only a porter service and storage.
No road links the camps on the W, so nothing moves your bag for you except people. Las Torres sells a porter service that carries up to 15 kg between its refugios. It publishes no price, so ask when you book.
The usual answer is to leave everything you will not walk with in Puerto Natales, where the bus station has paid storage, cash only. In the park, Central has a storage tent for the day hike to the base of the towers, and Paine Grande has lockers, free for refugio guests and CLP 4,000 for everyone else.

How this list is put together
We list published stays within 2 km of the route that have a website or a phone number, and are not permanently closed. Distances are measured from the trail itself, not from the village centre.
Each night leads with the stay our itinerary uses, then any stay we have picked out for that stop, then the places at the stop itself, then the rated ones by review count. The rest of that night's options follow.
Ratings and review counts come from public data and were current when this page was last built.
A further 1 stays sit beyond the last overnight stop, at the finish or on the walk out. They are useful if you split the walk differently.
