First decision
When to book
Booking is compulsory, through the park's own site at pnr-resa.corsica.
The Parc Naturel Regional de Corse runs every refuge on the route and every bed and pitch is booked through its platform. Bookings for 2026 opened on 20 January. Advance booking is required rather than encouraged.
It is often still possible to book a day or two ahead if space is left, but in July and August there usually is not.

Local rules
Camping on the GR20
4 of the 14 overnight stops have a campsite within 2 km of the path: Castel di Vergio, Refuge de l'Onda, Vizzavona and Refuge d'Asinao.
Wild camping is strictly forbidden on the GR20. Camping means a pitch at a refuge, which costs about 9 euros a night and gets you the refuge toilets and showers.
You can also rent a tent already pitched, around 21 euros for one person and 31 for two, which is why a lot of people walk this route without carrying one.
Carrying less
Baggage transfer
There is no baggage transfer worth the name: the refuges have no roads.
Bags can only move between the handful of places the route meets a road, such as Calenzana, Haut Asco, Castel di Vergio, Vizzavona and Conca. Everywhere else is a walk in.
Plan on carrying everything. This is the main reason the GR20 is harder than its distance suggests.
